“Mediation and the Courts - The Right Approach”

One of the sessions featured in the upcoming 15th Malaysian Law Conference (MLC 2010) is the mediation session titled “Mediation and the Courts – The Right Approach”.

This session will showcase speakers N Chandran (Advocate & Solicitor, Messrs Albar & Partners), Gunavathi Subramaniam (Advocate & Solicitor, Messrs Rosley Zechariah; Mediator, Malaysian Mediation Centre) and YA Datuk David Wong (Judge, High Court of Sabah & Sarawak).

Mediation is included as a topic for discussion at MLC 2010 in line with the increasing acceptance of mediation in a number of jurisdictions, including Malaysia, as being an alternative process or mechanism for resolving disputes between parties.

The discussion on the topic at MLC 2010 will include the perspectives of a legal practitioner, a Judge of the High Court and a mediator. They will address the topical subject of mediation by the Courts, the pros and cons and the form such mediation should take to achieve its desired result.

The mediation session will be held from 2:30 pm to 3:45 pm on 30 July 2010 (Day 2).
